Professional responses
The professional response to someone who is unwell varies according to the level of support they will need.
For someone who is experiencing stress or mild distress, the first point of call is likely to be a GP or counsellor. They may look at causes and suggest ways of changing lifestyles or offer support in the form of medication or counselling.
When someone is clearly experiencing symptoms of mental illness, a GP or the local hospital mental health services may be necessary.
